I would be SO excited if I knew where that was?!

On January 29,2013 my Mission call for the LDS church finally came.  I had been waiting almost 4 weeks for this call usually it takes like 2 weeks. My heart was pounding when my mom called me and told me she was on her way to St. George with my call !!! This was so exciting because the day before I drove to my home in vegas thinking my call would be there only to find an empty mailbox. I felt so excited, nervous, sick, and wild all at the same time. The clock has never moved so slow in my whole life. Finally after two hours my mom was knocking on my dorm door with my beautiful white envelope addressed to me. I will never forget the way I felt when I first ran my fingers across the opening it was like an electric shock ran through my whole body. My heart was bounding so hard I could feel it in my ears! I started to crunch the white envelope open just wanting so badly to get to the smooth cream paper that had MY call on. My call that was sent directly from our Savior, How cool is that!! This is it this is the moment I have been waiting for sense I was 8 years old. I took a deep breath and immediately tears started to roll down my checks. I could barely get out Dear Sister Pitts. After taking a minute to calm myself down I read:
Dear Sister Pitts you are hereby called to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the ( Deep breath here it is) CAPE VERDE PRAIA MISSION.
At this moment I didn't know what to feel and eaither did the people listening to me read my call. They cheered of course, but it was a cheer of confusion. I stopped mid call and said I would be so excited if I knew where this was. Everyone laughed but I was serious. I could barley say the name and I had no idea where I was going. Confused I continued to read:
It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 months. You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, June 26, 2013. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE
After I was done reading I opened my mission booklet that comes with every call  and turned to the map of my mission. My heart just sank all I could scream was I'M GOING TO AFRICA!!!! I started to cry feeling every emotion in the book and my mom ran over hugged me and cried too!! With all the yelling and cheering I explained that cape verde is a bunch of little islands off the coast of the curve of africa. I was feeling so excited and so scared my whole time I was waiting for my mission call my friends and I joked I was going to get called to Africa. NEVER in a million years did I think I would actually be going to africa. My whole life I wanted to serve in Italy. But right after I found out I was going to africa I was so excited I had this warm feeling through out my whole body comforting me. Letting me know that this is where I am suppose to be. There is someone waiting for me to bring them the light of christ the gospel of second chances. I am Honored I am going to serve these people. I love them I can not wait to meet them. I have been going through so many trails to prepare for His mission. I say His because this is Christ's mission I just have the honor of serving it for him and fufilling his work.  On one for my roughest days I came across a quote that says:
I PROMISE that because of your faithful response to the call to spread the gospel, HE will BIND UP your broken hearts, Dry your tears, and set You and Your families free. This is my MISSIONARY PROMISE to you and your MISSIONARY MESSAGE to the world.- Jeffery R Holland
I have so much peace I know this is the direction I am suppose to be taking. I am so grateful for this mission call. I can not wait to serve the Lord and his children. There is not a doubt of faith in me that this gospel isnt true I have seen the blessings I brings and Life's it has changed. It is real My friends.

  2. I think that is just so funny that you wanted to go to Italy, too. That's where I thought I wanted to go, until I got my call to Cape Verde! Can't believe it's coming so soon! I'll see you at the MTC, sister!
